This month, we’re introducing Marie Schyberg from our Fort Mill office. Marie’s journey into real estate is unique from most and wonderfully attests to her commitment in remaining client-centric and adaptable to her clients’ needs. As an international relocation client herself, Marie feels confident her life experiences have shaped her into the trusted advisor and real estate expert she is today, embracing all the local area and market has to offer.

 

When presented with the opportunity to move to America in 2011, Marie and her husband packed up their lives and moved across the world from Stockholm, Sweden along with their two youngest children. Knowing this transition would take a cultural toll on her family, Marie dedicated the first year to fully immersing herself and children into the American lifestyle. She spent much of her time ensuring her kids were absorbing the language and hitting educational milestones, while simultaneously volunteering within the community, including Blumenthal Performing Art.

 

Describing her first year in America, Marie explains, “Our relocation was stressful and many of my questions never got answered,” which is why she felt compelled to provide value to families just like hers: those uprooting their nests to somewhere entirely new. She ventured into the relocation industry, connecting with families from all over the world in hopes of creating a seamless process that was both comforting and efficient.

 

One of the most important aspects of her role was placing families or individuals in their new home away from home, where she often referred business to a local REALTOR®. Marie soon realized she wanted to extend her residential services beyond the referrals, noting that relocating a family is more than a transaction. She dreamed of carefully coaching her clients towards investing in their new lives as they ventured into the unknown, and upon obtaining her real estate license, Marie embarked on that very mission.

 

“I have a teacher’s mentality with a growth mindset. My job is to get my clients to feel grounded in their decision making by educating them by sharing my experience and knowledge.”

 

Her approach is honest and holds true to buyers and sellers relocating anywhere. Marie knows firsthand how difficult and nonlinear this process may be - she encourages her clients to immerse themselves into the community, write down everything, and say yes to everything. To her, new experiences create new memories, and new memories establish new roots. Marie also notes the importance of gratitude throughout an undeniably jarring transition - urging clients to express daily written gratitude to wherever they are in the process.

 

Today, Marie specializes in both international and domestic relocation with Helen Adams Realty, where her expertise are not only appreciated, but crucial towards our diverse client base.

 

Marie believes that any life change, whether its moving across the world or purchasing a new home, requires ample patience and access to local resources, both of which she inherently possesses through her own experiences. Her journey has taught her much about herself, allowing her to relay her knowledge and expertise to those in search of home.
